Supporting laptop users

Thinking global takes SA company to Canada and the US

Tired of propping the back of his laptop computer on a telephone directory to obtain a more comfortable typing position, Herb Ostroff was determined to find a solution. After drawing a blank in the commercial environment to meet his needs,

“Seeing the reaction of those early guinea pigs, it was clear that there was a need in the market for a product like this. I then brought a top-notch industrial designer on board to create the final product and Ergo-Tilt™ was born,” says Ostroff. “The other founders (Sonja Bregman and one other) and I put the initial capital into the business and the rest was funded by a loan from the bank and a short-term loan for our Canadian operation, where manufacture has just commenced. From the very beginning I made sure that the design and ideas were properly protected.

Are you one of those people who puts a paper ream or the Yellow Pages
under your laptop to give it some height and a bit more angle?
Well, we are guilty as charged!

Ergo-Tilt™ is the answer to this little problem. In fact, the product was developed by a bunch of people who were doing just this. We can best describe it as a compact, lightweight ‘tray’ that tilts your laptop, but it does a lot more than this… The angle of the lift helps keep users heads up and backs and necks in a relaxed position and stops you from hunching over your desk while working away. It also eases the stress on wrists, thereby helping Carpal Tunnel Syndrome sufferers. The design also allows a constant airflow underneath your laptop, keeping all those important bits of information as cool as a cucumber.

Nearly 90% of laptop users are finding that after using Ergo-Tilt™ for a day, they can no longer work without it.

So if we’re forced in this day and age to spend more than half our lives in front of these gadgets, we might as well make it a little easier!

Ergo-Tilt™ is available in a range of funky colours to match your mood, outfit or handbag and retails for R99.

Available at Game, Incredible Connections and selected retail outlets nationwide, or visit

The Ergo-Tilt is designed to support laptop computers, picking them up at an angle
so users work on their stations with straight wrists, back and neck,
minimising the risk for injury. It is a South African product,
made from recycled materials, is recyclable, and it folds away with your laptop.
It is practical and light. It does make a difference to wrist pain.

MARKET GOES ORGANIC AS GREEN REVOLUTION GROWS - Brian Joss

It's not often that I promote a product in Off My Trolley.
But this one is unusual and ties in with the green revolution. It is an ergonomically designed accessory,
especially for laptops. Ergo-tilt relieves postural stress and increases efficiency by tilting your laptop from a flat position.
It is light and folds flat for laptop carry-cases.
The packaging is made from recycled fibres and the plastic from which the ergo-tilt is made is recyclable.
It was designed by a South African grandfather, Herb Ostroff and has been in the stores for a few months.
It is now being sold in Canada and next year will be marketed in America .
